Guatemala Travel Team

The Guatemala Travel Team is TIS 8 and 9th graders planning to spend 3 weeks in the summer on an experiential learning trip to Antigua, Guatemala. During the 3 weeks, students split their time between honing heir Spanish language skills with one-on-one tutoring and service projects with local children. The students and TIS faculty stay with a host family to enhance the immersion experience. Although the days are full, the TIS kids do get to fit in seeing some of the amazing sights and experiencing the varied climate of Guatemala. The GUA Travel Team begins raising funds to help with the cost of the trip at the beginning the school year. Students run a variety of fundraisers including “Can-a-Thon”, Goodwill Collection Fundraisers and candle and donut sales. Click to learn how to help!

“The goal of this trip is to immerse into a culture other than our own  and to learn a language for fluency to provide better job opportunities for our future;  to provide community service to those less fortunate than ourselves and  to learn to appreciate all that we have as citizens of the USA. ” —TIS Guatemala Travel Team
